Handing-Over Ceremony of Russian Humanitarian Food Aid to Namibia
On July 10, 2019 H.E. Valerii Utkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Namibia, took part in the handing-over ceremony of the Russian humanitarian food aid to the Government of Namibia (652 tons of wheat and 51 tons of cooking oil) valued at US$ 1.5 million, which has been delivered to the country due to a Russian contribution to the UN World Food Program fund within the framework of the UN School Feeding Programme. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, the National Planning Commission and other government agencies. The Namibian officials expressed their sincere gratitude to Russia for humanitarian food assistance, which would be forwarded for providing students feeding in Namibian schools, especially crucial in the period of ongoing drought and food deficiency in a number of regions.The event received extensive coverage in local media and a very positive public response.
